Why Social Media? First off, why not? As a business you have a product that you sell. A problem that everyday people face that you’ve solved, so why not try everything you can to tell the world about your business. Everyone is on social media these days, apart from my mum, who only uses her iphone for calls, texts, emails and recently hotspot! But if your demographic is not Baby Boomers that also shares a minimum understanding of social media then you should be where your customers are, ON SOCIAL MEDIA!

I know myself, I use social media for everything. I always scout out restaurants, businesses and even charities before using them. I like to see what they sell, their reviews and whether they are local or a big corporation. It’s also lovely when you recommend a product to a friend or on a public group and you can put the link to the item or the place where you bought it. This makes it so much easier for those hard to find objects like insect bite cream for pregnant women.

You can keep an eye out on your competition. Did you know that in Facebook you can watch up to 5 or more pages to track how you’re going compared to them? It ranks you in how many likes you have. It also shows you what percentage of likes everyone has received in the past week. Also shows you how many times others have posted during the week and even shows you the posts and engagements. This is a great way to track to see how you’re going. This gives you ideas of what your audience responses to.
